The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) was founded by the Dhaka Ahsania Mission in 1995. Dhaka Ahsania Mission is a non-profit voluntary organization in Bangladesh. The Mission was established in 1958 by Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, an outstanding educationist and social reformer of undivided India. With his own vision of a better society, characterized by a wealth of moral and spiritual values of the highest humanism that are universally acclaimed through ages and manifested in every sphere of life social, economic, and cultural; and access to education and resources, he established the Mission. His remarkable educational reforms include among others introduction of a roll number system in the public examination and creating equal opportunity for education of all groups of people in the society. Besides, he has contributed to society by writing a large number of books covering a wide range of areas from human and social life, history, human development, literature, religion, biography, moral values, etc. Though initially, charity and welfare activities were the major focus of the Mission agenda, it has expanded its arena of activities leaning towards sustainable development strategies with the passage of time since the early 1980s.

VISION & MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY

  • The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology will be the premier center of excellence in science, engineering, and technology by creating and transferring knowledge with a human touch to the young generations to come to enhance the quality of life in Bangladesh and beyond.
  • The mission of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology is to develop human resources in the fields of science, engineering, and technology to meet the ever-changing needs of the society in the perspective of the highly complex and globalized world, and to do so it aims at producing quality graduates imbued with the spirit of ethical values and equipped with knowledge and skills appropriate to the fast-changing world so that they can face the challenges successfully wherever they are and contribute to the social and economic development of the country in their own humble way.

OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY

The aims and objectives of the University can be summarized as follows:

i. To impart need-based programs of science, technology, business, and social sciences for the students who will attend classes in the University as well as who are unable to attend classes and desire home-based study.

ii. To offer programs covering all important fields and disciplines of science, technology, medical science, business, and social sciences including teachers-training.

iii. To develop programs examining the modern trends on the need and development of science, technology, business, social sciences, and human resource development; observing carefully the employment opportunities and market needs both at home and abroad.

iv. To organize programs in science, technology, business, and social science including teachers-training for awarding degrees, diplomas, and certificates of proficiency at all levels.

v. To arrange two methods of delivery

  • in-campus education and
  • open learning system.

vi. To go for the gradual expansion of departments and programs of learning as per rules and regulations of the Private University Act, 1992, and in accordance with the needs of the country and the demand abroad.

Requirements For International Students

(a) Candidates who possess a foreign passport, brought up and educated abroad (not in Bangladesh) shall be considered as foreign students.

(b) Foreign student must have a certificate of twelve years of schooling equivalent to GCE A level with good grades in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. However, foreign applicants aspiring for getting admissions into the BBA program must have certificates of twelve years of schooling equivalent to the GCE A level with good grades in maximum subjects.

(c) Applicants should have an IELTS score of 6 or a TOEFL score of 80. The AUST authority may condone this requirement for candidates having adequate English aptitude.

Number of seats

The total number of seats for foreign students in the Undergraduate program in each semester is 25 which will be distributed among the departments proportional to their allocated seats.

Criteria for Bangladeshi Students

FOR SSC-HSC CANDIDATES

  • HSC (Science) with Maths, Physics, Chemistry
  • GPA in HSC: Minimum 3.5 (with additional subject)
  • Sum of GPA of HSC and SSC: Minimum 8.0 (with additional subject)

FOR GCE O & A - LEVEL

  • GCE O-level or equivalent (with at least five subjects including Maths, Physics, Chemistry & English)
  • GCE A-level or equivalent in Maths, Physics & Chemistry with minimum equivalent GPA of 3.5
  • Sum of equivalent GPA of GCE O & A-level: Min 8.0
  • Conversion Scale: A/A*=5, B=4, C=3 & D=2

No E grade and a maximum of one D grade at each of O & A levels will be allowed.

BBA

FOR SSC-HSC CANDIDATES

  • Must have SSC & HSC or equivalent degrees from any discipline
  • Minimum requirement: Total GPA 6.00 in SSC+ HSC (with additional subject)
  • Candidates passing HSC or equivalent examination only in 2018, or 2019 can apply.
  • The quota for Freedom Fighter’s son/daughter and Remote & Underdeveloped areas is applicable for BBA Program.

FOR GCE O & A - LEVEL

  • GCE O-level or equivalent in any five subjects and any two subjects in A-level.
  • Sum of equivalent GPA of GCE O & A-level: Minimum 7.00 with at least 3.00 at any level.
  • Grade equivalence: A/A*=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1.

 

Admission Requirement for MBA Program

  1. Candidates must have a three-year or four-year Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in any discipline. Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Engineering, Agriculture or Medicine may also apply.
  2. The applicant must not have third division/class or GPA less than 2.25 in the scale of 5.00 or GPA 2.00 in the scale of 4 in more than one examination.
  3. Candidates having two-year Bachelor’s degree must have minimum three years of job experience in executive level. Such candidates have to complete two additional non-credit courses.
  4. Candidates having job experience will get preference.

Admission Requirement for MBA (Executive) Program

  1. Candidates must have a three-year or four-year Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in any discipline. Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Engineering, Agriculture or Medicine may also apply.
  2. The candidate must not have any third division/class or GPA less than 2.25 in the scale of 5.00 or GPA 2.00 in the scale of 4 in more than one examination.
  3. Candidates must have minimum two years of job experience in executive level or equivalent.

Facilities (Permanent Campus)

a . Lifts : There are 6 lifts, 3 for students (54 passengers), 2 for Teachers (34 passengers) & 1 for the administrative block (8 passengers).

b . 5 (five) stairs, 3 (three) for students, 1 (one) for teachers and 1 (one) for administrative block.

c. One sub-station including has trucking for 2500 Kva capacity for each.

d . 2 (two) standby generator of 1000 Kva for each.

e. One 4th dia Tube-Well

f. Air conditioning system, each & every room will have an Air Conditioning system.
